Megan Weir, Town Assessor

Property assessments and exemptions — exemption filings, tax-roll questions, and how to contest your assessment. Assessor Weir was reappointed by the Town Board in September 2025 to a six-year term running through September 2031.

Dog Control Officer

Shelby Lee, Dog Control Officer

Handles dog-related complaints and enforces the Town’s dog-control and licensing laws. Dog licenses themselves are issued by the Town Clerk.

Building Department (Code Enforcement)

Scott Frisino, Building Inspector

Issues building permits, inspects building construction, and enforces the Town and 2020 NYS International building codes.

Hours By appointment only (in Town Hall or on site). Call the cell to schedule (appointments 8–11 AM, Mon–Fri); general questions 8 AM–4 PM at the same number.

🔨 A building permit is required for new construction over 100 sq ft; enlargements, alterations, or conversions; decks over 100 sq ft; sheds over 100 sq ft; and new or replacement pools (above-ground or in-ground).

Town Historian

Chris Kelly, Town Historian

The town’s appointed historian — local and family history, cemetery and church records, and the research behind the town’s 250th-anniversary work. Historian Kelly reports to the Town Board most months; those reports are in our minutes archive, and have lately covered biographies of local World War II veterans, the 14th Albany County Militia, the Pleasantdale WWII memorial, and the 350th anniversary of the Witenagemot Oak.

Youth Commission

Runs the town’s summer day camp for local children, jointly sponsored by the Town and Village of Schaghticoke, plus swim lessons. Registration is held on two evenings at Town Hall each spring and fills up — there is no registration at the door.

Town Attorney / Special Counsel

Counsel to the town on municipal law, land use, zoning and planning, and real property matters — the attorney you hear advising the boards at their meetings. Reach him through his firm; town legal questions can also go through the Town Clerk. James LaValle serves as Deputy Town Attorney (appointed January 2026) and regularly advises the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals.
