The town's summer day camp and swim lessons for local kids — what it costs, who can go, and when to sign up.
The Schaghticoke Youth Commission runs a five-week summer day camp for children from the Town and Village of Schaghticoke, plus swim lessons. Sponsored jointly by the Town and Village of Schaghticoke.
The thing to know if you're planning ahead: registration happens on two evenings in the spring and that's it — there's no sign-up at the door, and fees are collected on those nights. If you want a spot next summer, watch for the registration dates in April or May.

Who can go. Campers must be 5 years old by the first day of camp. Teenagers aged 15 can apply to be an aide.
Proof of residency. Parents must show proof that the camper is a full-time resident of the Town or Village of Schaghticoke.
Registration. Registration was held on two evenings only — May 8 and May 14, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:15 PM at Town Hall, 290 Northline Drive, Melrose. There is no registration at the door, and fees are collected on registration nights.

Fees are non-refundable and are collected on registration night. They change from year to year — confirm with a co-director before you count on a figure here.

Who to contact
Applications come from the co-directors directly — call or email either one. They also answer questions about aide positions for 15-year-olds.
