One week after Rett Fest, the fall calendar keeps rolling. The Hoosic Valley Community Partners bring their Harvest Festival back to the Town Hall grounds at 290 Northline Drive in Melrose on Saturday, September 26, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The formula is the one the town has come to count on: live music through the afternoon, food, a lawn full of vendors selling handmade and homemade goods, crafters, and entertainment for the kids. Bring a lawn chair and plan to stay a while. Admission has always been free, and the town’s own events listing describes the day the same way the Partners do: “live music, food, vendors and children’s entertainment throughout the day.”
In past years the festival has come paired with the Melrose Mile, a fun run for kids around the Town Hall property with free registration at 11 and the race at noon. We haven’t seen this year’s race details posted yet, so check the Partners’ Facebook page before promising a medal to anyone.
A crowded Saturday morning
September 26 is a busy day in the Hoosic Valley, and it’s worth mapping:
- 8 a.m.: check-in for the Speigletown Fire Company Golf Scramble at Frear Park, shotgun start at 9.
- 9 to 10 a.m.: Coffee and Conversation with the Hoosic Valley superintendent in the high school multipurpose room, part of the district’s fall newsletter.
- 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Harvest Festival at Town Hall.
Golfers will miss the festival’s first hour or two but can still make the afternoon; everyone else can do the coffee hour and roll over to Northline Drive with time to spare.
Vendors and questions
The Partners run the vendor list, the music and the schedule. Their Facebook page is the place for last-minute changes and vendor inquiries. Town Hall (518-753-6915) can answer questions about the grounds and parking.
