The Town Board of the Town of Schaghticoke met in regular session at the Town Hall, 290 Northline Drive, Melrose, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
Present: Supervisor Salisbury and Councilmen Akin, Fogarty, Rustin, and Ward.
The Board accepted the October 9, 2024 minutes (Akin · Ward · all).
Department reports
- Shawn Hayes, Highway Superintendent, gave his water and sewer report.
Business
- Bills dated November 13, 2024, totaling $157,991.23, approved (Fogarty · Rustin · all).
- Approved the snow-and-ice agreement with Rensselaer County for 2024–2025 (Ward · Rustin · all).
- Accepted the 2025 contract with the Hoosic Valley Fire District (Fogarty · Ward · all).
- Adopted the 2025 town budget (Fogarty moved, Akin seconded).
- Reduced the Town Hall reserve by $44,850 to paint the Town Hall and to purchase and install all new windows (Rustin · Ward · all).
Public comment
A Pleasantdale resident asked whether there was any movement on the noise ordinance; Supervisor Salisbury spoke to the difficulty of making it enforceable, and Town Attorney Dave Brennan will continue to look into the matter. A resident asked whether the list of roads needing repaving is available; Highway Superintendent Shawn Hayes said he keeps an ongoing list but needs to see how the winter storms affect the roads, and that it also depends on the funding available for paving.
