The Town Board of the Town of Schaghticoke met in regular session at the Town Hall, 290 Northline Drive, Melrose, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
Present: Supervisor Salisbury and Councilmen Akin, Fogarty, Rustin, and Ward.
The Board accepted the May 8, 2024 minutes (Fogarty · Rustin · all).
Department reports
- Shawn Hayes, Highway Superintendent, gave his highway, water, and sewer report and has been looking into the repair needed for the Barton Road culvert pipe; he plans to contact Trout Preservation about the engineering to repair or replace it.
- Chris Kelly, Town Historian, will set up a table with World War II information at the Village Strawberry Festival.
Business
- Bills dated June 12, 2024, totaling $417,370.13, approved (Ward · Akin · all).
- Contracted with Gifford Engineering (Fogarty · Ward · all).
- Authorized Town Attorney David Brennan to serve a notice of claim on the City of Troy for the damage to Irish Road (Rustin · Fogarty · all).
- Approved Judge Thomas’s clerk, Caryn O’Hara, to attend a conference (Akin · Ward · all).
- Approved funds to replace the water pipe on Calhoun Drive (Ward · Fogarty · all).
- Introduced a local law for a zoning change to eliminate battery storage and set a public hearing (Akin · Fogarty · all).
Public comment
A resident presented the Capital District Regional Planning Commission report and the Capital Region Housing Affordability Study. Town Historian Chris Kelly asked whether neon signs are allowed in the town. A Pleasantdale resident returned for a follow-up on the noise ordinance; the Town Attorney has drafted one, and the resident thanked the town for looking into the matter.
