The Town Board of the Town of Schaghticoke met in regular session at the Town Hall, 290 Northline Drive, Melrose, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.

Present: Supervisor Salisbury and Councilmen Akin, Fogarty, Rustin, and Ward.

Public hearing — 2024 town budget

Supervisor Salisbury opened the hearing at 6:30 p.m., stating the town tax rate is staying the same, with some items up and some down. The hearing closed at 6:35 p.m. (Fogarty · Ward · all).

The Board accepted the October 11, 2023 minutes with a correction (the town’s solar payments are by megawatts) (Fogarty · Akin · all).

Business

  • Budget transfers from fund balance: $32,000 for paving repairs (Rustin · Ward · all); $30,000 for the salt-shed roof (Akin · Ward · all); $988 for a liability-insurance increase (Akin · Fogarty · all); and $5,000 for a server install (Ward · Fogarty · all).
  • Shawn Hayes, Highway Superintendent, gave his water and sewer report.
  • Bills totaling $260,138.66, approved (Fogarty · Ward · all).
  • Adopted the 2024 town budget (Fogarty · Rustin · all).
  • Accepted the Rensselaer County snow-and-ice agreement for 2023–2024 (Ward · Akin · all).

Public comment

A resident shared informational materials on tiny homes obtained from the Capital District Regional Planning Commission.

With no other public comment, the Board adjourned at 7:00 p.m. (Ward · Akin · all).
