The Town Board of the Town of Schaghticoke met in regular session at the Town Hall, 290 Northline Drive, Melrose, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.
Present: Supervisor Salisbury and Councilmen Akin, Fogarty, Rustin, and Ward.
The Board accepted the June 14, 2023 minutes (Akin · Fogarty · all).
Department reports
- Shawn Hayes, Highway Superintendent, reported that recent heavy rain washed away parts of roads around town, with major damage on Pinewoods Road, where a large section of the road and the pipe beneath it washed away.
Business
- Bills dated July 12, 2023, totaling $306,762.33, approved (Ward · Akin · all).
- Budget transfer: increased DB5110.4 by $16,786.61 for an insurance settlement on a truck (Fogarty · Rustin · all).
- Approved the purchase of a boom mower under state contract from SEI (Ward · Fogarty · all).
- Set up a reserve of $645,488 from fund balance for two new trucks and the boom mower (Rustin · Ward · all).
- Approved $47,000 from fund balance to replace a defective water pipe on Haughney Road (Akin · Ward · all).
- Readopted a permissive referendum for town property at the Highway Garage, the landfill, and Stillwater Bridge Road (Fogarty · Akin · all).
Supervisor Salisbury noted that Church Street to Route 40 needs patching, and Councilman Ward suggested R14 tires for the new tractor.
