October around here: ghost tours at the Knick, a powder-coat hearing, Foodstock, and the last farmers market Sunday

School dates, both districts
The calendar now carries the fall for Hoosic Valley and Lansingburgh: no school October 12 (both), Lansingburgh’s half day October 23 and conference day November 2, Hoosic Valley’s K-6 early dismissals October 29 and 30 and its conference day November 3 (Election Day), Veterans Day on the 11th, Thanksgiving recess November 25 to 27, and the holiday break from December 24 through January 1. Board of Education meetings: Hoosic Valley November 5 and December 3; Lansingburgh October 26, November 23 and December 21.
What we could not confirm
Facebook-only organizers remain the gap: the Melrose fire company’s Trunk-or-Treat and Breakfast with Santa are annual but undated, the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad and Pleasantdale company post only on Facebook, and Transfiguration Parish’s site would not load. If you run one of these and have a date, send it in and we will add it the same day. We will also recheck the Rustic Barn and Grafton Lakes in November for December and New Year’s listings.
Sources: each organizer’s website or published calendar, checked October 3, 2026, and linked from the events page. Times and prices are the organizers’ and subject to change; the sourcing notes on each card say where a detail could not be confirmed.
