Mechanicville DPW is hiring a Skilled Laborer — $26.04/hr, apply by August 7
Update, August 11: the application window closed August 7. We’re leaving the details up for reference — and if the city re-posts the position, we’ll say so here.
A solid public-works job has opened up just across the river: the City of Mechanicville’s Department of Public Works is hiring a Skilled Laborer, available immediately.
The offer
- $26.04 an hour, minimum 40 hours a week
- Health insurance, dental/vision, pension (NYS Retirement System), and paid time off
- The work, per the civil-service job description: road building, construction, recycling, and general public-works maintenance, including basic upkeep of the equipment you operate
Who qualifies
The civil-service description asks for one year of experience as a laborer and a valid NYS driver’s license appropriate to the vehicles operated. It’s outdoor, physical work in all weather — the posting is honest about that.
We host the full job description and application form (PDF).
How to apply — by August 7, 2026
- Email your qualifications and application to Cheryl.blodgett@mechanicvilleny.gov
- Or apply via mechanicvilleny.gov/jobopportunities
- Or mail the City of Mechanicville Accounts Office, 36 North Main Street, Mechanicville, NY 12118
- Questions: 518-664-9884 ext. 315
One heads-up if you’re working from the city’s own posting: it misspells the application email’s domain as “mechancvilleny.gov” — mail sent there bounces. The address above is the working one.
Posted as a service to readers — this is a City of Mechanicville position, not a Town of Schaghticoke one. Details from the city’s posting and the civil-service job description, reviewed August 1, 2026.
