Speigletown Fire's Chicken BBQ is back, October 24, to save a 1936 fire engine

One of Speigletown’s favorite traditions is back: the Speigletown District Volunteer Fire Company’s Chicken BBQ returns Saturday, October 24, 2026, cooked by Dottie Lou’s BBQ. This year the proceeds go toward something special, a rehab of the company’s 1936 American LaFrance fire engine, a piece of our hamlet’s history worth saving.

• When: Saturday, October 24, 2026
• Cost: $18 per dinner
• Pre-order deadline: Please order your dinners by October 16
• Where: The Speigletown firehouse, 146 Speigletown Road (Route 40), Troy
• Why it matters: Proceeds fund the restoration of the company’s 1936 American LaFrance fire engine

What’s in the dinner

Each $18 dinner, cooked by Dottie Lou’s BBQ, includes:

• Half a chicken
• Mac & cheese
• Coleslaw
• A baked potato
• A dinner roll

How to order

Dinners are pre-order only, so get your order in by October 16:

• Prefer paper? Stop by the firehouse any Thursday between 7 and 9 PM to pick up an order form.

Payment: Cash, check, or Venmo are all accepted.
