Sometimes the news is just a good one.
On Sunday, May 18, the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad used its Facebook page to say thank you to a neighbor down the road — Chrissy’s Cravings, the restaurant and ice-cream spot at 152 Main Street in Schaghticoke.
The crew had ordered dinner. Before the food could be eaten, a call came in and the members went out the door to answer it, the way volunteer EMS crews do. By the time they got back, dinner had long gone cold.
When the squad let Chrissy’s know what had happened, the restaurant’s team didn’t hesitate: they remade the entire order, fresh, and sent the crew on their way fed.
“We want to give a huge shout out to Chrissy’s Cravings,” the squad wrote, thanking the restaurant for the kindness. It’s a small gesture on paper — a remade takeout order — but it’s the kind of thing that keeps a volunteer squad going, and the kind of thing a small town remembers.
The Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad is the emergency medical service that responds to calls across our area, including here in Speigletown. Its members answer at all hours, dinner or no dinner. If you’ve ever thought about giving back, they’re always looking for volunteers.
And if you’re hungry, Chrissy’s Cravings is open seven days a week — burgers, wraps, loaded fries, and ice cream — at 152 Main Street in Schaghticoke.
