Sweet corn season is here. Calhoun’s Farm Stand on Grange Road, the closest fresh produce to the hamlet, opened for the 2026 season on July 12, its first open weekend of the year.
“We’re all set up with our homegrown sweet corn, fresh vegetables, delicious fruits, meats and more,” the stand posted that morning. “Come by and stock up on fresh, homegrown and local produce. We look forward to seeing you.”
Homegrown since 1983
The corn is the draw, and it is genuinely local. Wendy Calhoun noted the family has been “growing and selling our own corn since 1983,” and Andy Calhoun confirmed this season’s crop is a 70-day sweet corn grown right in their own fields.
This year’s prices, the stand said: 85 cents an ear, $5 a half dozen, and $10 a dozen. Homegrown tomatoes are expected to follow in about two weeks, alongside the stand’s usual run of fresh vegetables, fruit, and more as the season rolls on.
Neighbors weigh in
The season opener drew a wave of happy reviews on the stand’s Facebook page. “Best corn ever,” one customer wrote. “Sweet like candy,” said another. “Just ate my first corn and as always, it is the most delicious corn ever,” wrote a third.
