The Town Board of the Town of Schaghticoke met in regular session on February 12, 2025 at the Town Hall, 290 Northline Drive, Melrose, at 6:30 p.m.
Present: Supervisor Salisbury; Councilmen Akin, Fogarty, and Ward. Absent: Councilman Rustin.
Approval of prior minutes

Reports from department heads
- Chris Kelly, Town Historian, reported she had received correspondence asking where enslaved people were buried in the town. She found records of only one enslaved man buried in the town, at the Knickerbocker Cemetery; his grandson, a band director in Manhattan, is buried in Schaghticoke Hill Cemetery.
- Shawn Hayes, Highway Superintendent, gave his highway, water, and sewer report.
Financial

Barton Road culvert
To enter into an agreement with Excellence Engineered to design a culvert for Barton Road. Resolution: Ward · Second: Akin · Ayes: All · Nays: None.
Public comment
- A resident asked about the plans for fixing the Barton Road culvert and again raised the visibility and speed on Master Street (County Route 114), noting the difficulty of pulling out of Akin Road because of excessive speed and a tree obstructing the view. All agreed it is a problem, but since it is a County road, the County must address it. Supervisor Salisbury said he had sent a letter to Rensselaer County two years ago about four-way stop signs at the intersection and was told it would take two years.
