Public hearing — tax levy limit override
The public hearing on the proposed local law entitled “A Local Law Permitting the Town of Schaghticoke to Override the Tax Levy Limit as defined under Section 3-c of the General Municipal Law” opened at 6:30 p.m.
A resident asked the reason for the override of the tax levy. Supervisor Salisbury explained the shortage of part-time staff for the rescue squad and that $250,000 town-wide is needed to hire two full-time people with benefits (money given to the rescue squad is for personnel only). He noted this is a line item on all tax bills and the Town portion of taxes would not be increased again this year, and that the trash and recycling line item is going from $200 to $210 per household unit.
- Adopt Local Law #2 to permit the override of the tax levy limit (Rustin · Ward — Ayes: all; Nays: none).
Public hearing closed at 6:50 p.m. Submitted by Jennifer Molesky, Town Clerk.
