Regular meeting
Chairman Ed McDonough opened the meeting at 7:05 p.m. with roll call. Present: Ed McDonough (Chairman), Rich Geddis, Kristin Griswold, Lettie Saheim, and Jason Shover. None absent. Deputy Town Attorney Kristin Pratt and Clerk Elizabeth Hale were present.

Liz Davis — proposed garage, 600 Verbeck Avenue (RA district)
Applicant Liz Davis presented a proposal to construct a 28′ × 32′ two-car garage at her residence in an RA district on a 2.9± acre lot at 600 Verbeck Avenue. The garage would be located at the end of the driveway, 10 feet in front of a propane tank at the side of the house and 16 feet from the residence; the side-yard setback to the right of the house is 47.5 feet from the property line. The proposed structure height is 16 feet. Deputy Attorney Pratt explained that the height is of greater significance at 16 feet, with a side-yard area-variance requirement of 12.5 feet.
Electronic sign discussion — The Reynolds Group, Route 40
The Board discussed a June 1, 2022 Planning Board matter involving a proposed electronic illuminated sign for The Reynolds Group on NYS Route 40, across from Hoosic Valley High School. The business owner had inquired at the Planning Board about a sign displaying rotating images to highlight pellet stoves and awnings offered for sale. The Planning Board noted the Zoning Code regulates signage: while the high school has an electronic moving/flashing sign, the school is within the Village of Schaghticoke, which has no zoning code, whereas The Reynolds Group lies within the Town and is regulated by the Town Zoning Code, which does not allow flashing, intermittent, rotating, or moving lights (Zoning Law Section V(F)(9)). Board members were referred to page 47 of the Zoning Code for signage regulations.
Meeting time change
Chairman McDonough noted the Planning Board had moved its meeting time from 7:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and asked whether the Board wished to do the same. Members were in agreement.
