Regular meeting of the Town Board, Town of Schaghticoke — March 10, 2021, held via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. Present were Supervisor Salisbury and Councilmen Akin, Fogarty, Rustin, and Westhead.

  • Minutes of the February 10, 2021 meeting accepted (Rustin · Westhead — Ayes: all; Nays: none).

Department head reports

  • Highway Superintendent Shawn Hayes gave his highway and water/sewer report.
  • Town Historian Chris Kelly reported she had been researching the Sunset Heights section of Speigletown, with help from a resident, and was continuing the work.

Business

  • Town Clerk’s bills from the Scheduled Payment Report of March 10, 2021, totaling $282,765.06, approved (Akin · Westhead — Ayes: all; Nays: none).
  • Acknowledge the audit of the judges’ 2020 books, which had been audited by Town Board members (Rustin · Fogarty — Ayes: all; Nays: none).
  • Host Community Agreement for the Herrington Solar Project accepted (Akin · Rustin — Ayes: all; Nays: none).

Public comment

  • A property owner asked about a property he bought in Melrose, at 850 NY Route 40, under the impression it was zoned commercial; he discovered it had reverted to residential. Town Attorney Dave Brennan explained that a building not used for commercial purposes reverts to residential after a year, and the owner was given information on how to seek a rezoning so he could use the property.
  • Residents from Hemstreet Park shared concerns about being in the Hoosic Valley Ambulance district rather than using the Clifton Park/Halfmoon service.
