The Zoning Board of Appeals of the Town of Schaghticoke met at the Town Hall, 290 Northline Drive, Melrose, on Thursday, October 1, 2020. The Chairman opened the meeting at 7:30 PM with roll call.
Present: Ed McDonough (Chairman), Kristin Griswold, Lettie Saheim, Jason Shover. Absent: Rich Geddis. Deputy Town Attorney Kristin Pratt was absent; Clerk Elizabeth Hale was present.

Inquiries
- A resident of an RA district asked about operating a daycare facility at her home. The Chairman advised her to contact Planning Board Chairman Frank Alessandrini to begin the application process for a Special Use Permit, which is required to operate a children’s daycare in an RA district.
- A builder inquired about constructing a 720-square-foot, 30’ × 24’ × 16’-high in-law residence, separate from the main dwelling, on a property off Rice Mountain Road. The Chairman advised the builder to contact Planning Board Chairman Frank Alessandrini about a Special Use Permit; if a variance is required after that consultation, the Planning Board would refer the matter to the ZBA.
- A resident proposing a 16’ × 20’ shed on his Skyline Drive property, 35’ from the property lines, was assured that no variance application is necessary because all setbacks meet the Zoning Code.
