Office of the Town Board, Town of Schaghticoke — February 12, 2020, at the Town Hall, 290 Northline Drive, Melrose, NY, at 6:30 PM. Present were Supervisor Salisbury and Councilmen Fogarty and Westhead. Councilmen Akin and Rustin were absent.

Town Historian Chris Kelly spoke about how her weekly newspaper article in the Express has grown from about 500 words to about 1,900 words, and about her research on the duties of town officials in 1900 — noting that public health was then a town responsibility.

Old business and public comment
Supervisor Salisbury reported that the judges’ books were reviewed. During public comment, a resident asked for an explanation of the criteria to change a residential property to commercial, and an explanation was given by the Supervisor and the Town Attorney. Another resident asked whether the garbage collection bid recurs annually; Town Attorney Dave Brennan explained the contract is for five years and will be eligible for bid in spring 2021.
